Senior superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has suspended Kotwali SHO Karamjeet Singh and ASI Sukhram Singh for failing to produce a challan in court in a murder case within the mandated 90 days.

“As the challan was not filed, one of the accused was granted bail,” said the SSP, adding that this was negligence of duty of the highest order.

One Simarjeet Singh was allegedly shot dead at Maina Chowk on September 5 last year.
Gurwinder Singh alias Bindu, Bhupinder Singh and Ramandeep Singh were booked on charges of murder in this connection.

The accused Bhupinder is a close relative of the victim.

The police were to file a challan pertaining to the arrest of Ramandeep Singh on September 2, and the challan was to be filed by December 4.
