Siblings go missing under mysterious circumstances

punjab Updated: Feb 02, 2013 23:14 IST

A brother and a sister went missing under mysterious circumstances from Baldev Nagar of Rahon road on Friday evening.

Parents of missing children Pooja, 11, and Vishal, 8, suspect the hand of a neighbour's family behind their disappearance.

Pooja, a student of Class 2, and Vishal, a student of Class 1, at MK High School went to the neighbours and asked them lend Rs 50 as they wanted to buy notebooks. When the neighbours denied giving money to them they left their house immediately and never returned.

Father Shivji Upadhyaye said he worked at a hosiery factory along with his wife. They left home for work on Friday morning and when they returned around 8 pm they were shocked to find the children missing.

"My two younger sons Kundan, 6, and Shivan, 5, who were sleeping in the house, said Pooja cooked and served food to them and went outside with Vishal," Upadhyaye added.

"We tried to find them, but no avail, eventually we filed a missing report at the Basti Jodhewal police station," he added.

Upadhyaye, who is a native of Baikunthpur village of Baksar district of Bihar, said on Saturday morning he approached the neighbours following information provided by residents of the area. The neighbours confirmed that their children had come to them to borrow Rs 50 to buy notebooks. They asked the siblings that they would give them notebooks, but would not give them money. Both the children left their house immediately.

Mother Usha, who is in an inconsolable condition, suspects that someone may have killed her children.

SHO of Basti Jodhewal police station Balwinder Singh said the police had launched a drive to find the missing children.
