Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Avtar Singh Makkar has flayed the Pakistan Rangers for not allowing a Sikh truck driver to cross border as he was wearing a 'kirpan.'

The driver, Avtar Singh, who was going to Pakistani with a truck of tomatoes, was reportedly sent back by the Rangers. Taking a strong notice of the incident, SGPC chief Makkar appealed to the Union Government to take up the matter with the Pakistani government and ensure that in future such restrictions are not imposed.

The SGPC chief demanded that the Indian government must explain the importance of 'kirpan' for Sikhs to the Pakistani government.

"We will take up the matter with the external affairs ministry,: said the SGPC chief.
