The Sirmour District Congress Committee (DCC) on Sunday celebrated the 129th foundation day of the national party at the Congress Bhawan here.
DCC chief Ajay Solanki chaired a meeting to mark the day.
The party leaders and workers pledged to follow the principals, ideology and polices for national integration of the party. A flag-hoisting ceremony was also held.
Solanki said the party had a glorious past and that the two years of Congress government in the state had been successful.
He urged party workers to highlight the achievements of the government among the masses.
Highlighting the government's achievements, he said the regime had decided to start a medical college within the district hospital campus. He said `190 crore had been earmarked for it.
He pointed out the government's decision to open an IIM in the district.
State Planning Commission vice-chairman Gangu Ram Mussafir, HIMFED chairman Kanwar Ajay Bhadur Singh, Rupinder Thakur and chief parliamentary secretary Vinay Kumar were among those present at the event.
