Sirsa dera head ready to visit Golden Temple for peace sake

Extending the olive branch to Sikhs, Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh said on Thursday that he was ready to visit the Golden Temple for the sake of peace as he respected all religions, adding that he was keen to hold religious gatherings across Punjab.

Addressing the media during an event to promote his film ‘MGS-2: The Messenger’ in Sirsa, Ram Rahim said he welcomed the Akal Takht’s decision to exonerate him of blasphemy charges as it was the “Supreme Court of the Sikhs” and its edict must be accepted by all.

Hitting out at Sikh radicals for questioning the Takht’s decision to pardon him, the dera head told reporters that a committed Sikh understood the importance of the Akal Takht.

“Those questioning the Takht’s decision have no sense of the Sikh faith. As the Takht did not ask for suggestions on the issue, the questions.

He observed that those opposing the recent verdict had accepted the Takht’s 2007 edict regarding the boycott of dera followers.

Talking about ‘MSG-2’, Ram Rahim said the movie had crossed the Rs 150-crore mark at the box office. The film has received good response in Punjab and has also been released in Tamil and Telugu, he added.The dera head said he planned to produce multi-starrer films based on the Vedas and various religions. He also expressed the desire to work with Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan in a mythological film on the lines of Hollywood blockbuster ‘Avatar’.

“Hrithik met me in Mumbai recently to congratulate me on the success of ‘MSG-2’. During a discussion on my forthcoming film projects, Roshan showed inclination to be part of a dera project on religion,” he said.

Meanwhile, dera followers thronged a Karnal multiplex, where the sect management is conducting regular shows of ‘MSG-2’. The dera’s media liasoning team said it planned to hold 32 uninterrupted shows.

Anti-dengue drug

Ram Rahim said the dera was working to produce a herbal medicine for dengue patients and it may soon be distributed free of cost. “Preliminary trials suggest that if the medicine is taken once, a person does not get infected by the dengue virus for six months. If the desired results are achieved, we will produce the drug in bulk and distribute it through the central government,” he said.

On the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the dera chief stated that during his promotional tours across the country, he had seen greater awareness among people regarding sanitation and cleanliness.
