Six people have been booked for abducting and raping a 15-year-old Dalit girl here. The crime took place on Thursday and police registered a case on Saturday.

The victim complained to the police that on Thursday evening when she was on way to her home, four people (Kuljit, Rahul, Raj and Pankaj) stopped their car in front of her and Kuljeet dragged her into the vehicle and drove away. On the way, they gave her something to drink, following which she lost her conscious partially and Kuljeet raped her in the car, she said. The victim told the police she didn’t remember what happened after that.

The victim said next morning she found herself near a temple on the Abohar-Hanumangarh road. She somehow reached home and told everything to her family. She was admitted to the civil hospital at Abohar, where she is still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, local Congress MLA Sunil Kumar Jakhar met the victim and her family and assured her justice. He also raised the issue with the police.

Fazilka senior superintendent of police Ketan Bali Patil said a rape case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act against four identified and two unidentified people. All the accused are absconding.
