Six days after a man identified as Umesh Sidhania jumped into Bhakra mainline, the police recovered his dead body from Khanauri on Tuesday.

The police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of IPC against his wife and her parents.

The police said, Sidhania was a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh.

On May 31, Sidhania bought a tobacco packet from a kiosk near the canal, which became the reason for the altercation with his wife.

During the altercation, Sidhania handed over his documents, mobile phone to his wife, and jumped into the canal.

The police informed that the accused have not been arrested as the case is still under investigation.
