A man was arrested after six kg heroin, with a street value of Rs 30 crore, was recovered by sleuths of directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) near Ladhowal toll plaza in Ludhiana district, officials said on Saturday.
Makhan Singh, who was allegedly in possession of the contraband, was moving in a truck from New Delhi to Amritsar for delivery of the drug on Friday, a DRI official said.
Acting on a tip-off, the truck was stopped near Ladhowal toll plaza and six kg heroin was allegedly recovered from Makhan, official said.
He said Makhan had taken lift in the truck laden with sweet potatoes. The truck driver was let off as he was not involved in the crime.
A case has been registered against the accused under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, official said, adding that investigations are underway.
