Time has stopped for the family of Rahul Verma, 25, who was murdered, while his sister, Priyanka Verma, was brutally attacked at their house at South City in January. But the police have failed to crack the case.

Disappointed with the tardy police investigation, the victims' kin are yet to figure the reason behind the attack, which happened 10 days before Priyanka's marriage.

“We have run from pillar to post for justice. Our repeated visits to the police only reveal that the investigation is still on. Police have no answers even six months after the death of Rahul,” the victim's brother, Kunal Verma, said.

Following the attack, Priyanka remained under treatment for five months and eventually got married on June 22.

The family said the killers had looted `1.25 lakh and two gold chains from the house, but had not touched the jewellery that Priyanka was wearing, adding that they did not have enmity with anyone.

When the family was rushing Rahul to the hospital, he had uttered a name, Happy. Since then, the police have grilled several people named Happy, but found nothing.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), crime, Manjit Singh Dhesi the police had not left any stone unturned and were still working hard to investigate the case.

'Killers were more than two in number'

Kunal said Priyanka had told them two masked men entered in the room after five minutes of pressing the door bell. But assailants that had attacked her were wearing clean clothes and gloves, with no blood stains. Therefore, they suspect that while two of the miscreants attacked Priyanka, the rest attacked Rahul.
