The Daresi police have booked six persons of a gang for allegedly opening fire at the house of kingpin of another gang in Qila Mohalla here on Tuesday.

The six accused include Varinder Sidhu alias Chhota Lalla of Rajesh Nagar of Haibowal, Babbu, Kala and three unidentified persons.

According to police, the incident is a fall out of a gang war between two groups. The accused, who were riding three motorcycles, stopped in front of the house of Ajaypal, kingpin of a gang, and opened fire at his door before fleeing.

As per sources, Ajaypal, along with his accomplices, Sachin, Kakri, Shiva, Kali and other four unidentified persons, had attacked the house of one Varinder Sidhu on April 16, and opened fire in the air before fleeing. In return, Sidhu's aides had attacked Ajaypal's house on Tuesday.

Sub-inspector (SI) Sanjiv Kapoor, SHO, Daresi police station, said a case had been registered following the statement of Mala, mother of Ajaypal. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused, he added.

The SI said Ajaypal was not present at home at the time of the incident. He is wanted by the division number 4 police in a case of attempt to murder.
