At least six engineering aspirants from Amritsar have cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the result of which was announced on Thursday.
Saksham Sharma topped in the district with all-India rank (AIR) 138, followed by Archit Sharma with 376 , Amrinder Singh Dhaliwal with 786 , Punnet Duggal with 3851, Anuj arora with 10891 and Milan Kaur Saini 13,986.
Sakhsam Sharma, a DAV Public School student, said, “I have topped the exam by scoring 274 marks out of 360 and for this I have stayed away from distractions for the past four years”.
He said, “Although I am CBSE (Non- Medical) topper with 97.6%, I always concentrated and aimed for IITs. For this, I have taken up four-year classroom programme with a training institute. With hard work and focus since Class-8, I have been able to crack IIT-JEE” he adds.
Archit Sharma, who bagged 2nd position in the district with AIR 376, scoring 254 marks, said “My success is based on the hard work I have put in and the contribution of my parents in providing me a conducive environment for study. They always managed everything on their own without hampering my studies even suring the closest family get-togethers,” he said.
Amrinder Singh Dhaliwal, who bagged third position in the district with 786th rank, said, “I sacrificed almost all of my social relations. Also, despite being a sports enthusiast, I could not indulge in much of sports activity for the past three years.”
