Six thieves, stolen items recovered

The city police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves after arresting six of its members on Wednesday. The police have also seized four LPG cylinders, one Splendor bike (PB35-l-7262), a .12 bore country made pistol and stolen taps and water pipes.

The accused have been identified as Aman Verma, Neeraj, Lovely, Surinder Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Puran. The police said that Lovely was already a proclaimed offender in a case and Aman, Ajay and Puran were also facing criminal cases at various police stations. A case under various sections of the arms Act and the IPC has been registered against them. The police have also arrested Harjit Singh of Fattu Dhinga and Mahinder Singh of Sultanpur in Kapurthala and seized 40- kg poppy husk from their Indigo car (PB08-BL-0235).

A case under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered.
