Ski courses begin at Solang Nallah

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) has started a 14-day basic course in skiing at Solang Nallah ski slopes, 13 km from here, on Saturday. According to Mahavir Thakur, deputy director, (ABVIMAS), the course was being conducted for as many as 43 trainees above 10 years of age.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) has started a 14-day basic course in skiing at Solang Nallah ski slopes, 13 km from here, on Saturday.


According to Mahavir Thakur, deputy director, (ABVIMAS), the course was being conducted for as many as 43 trainees above 10 years of age.

Thakur said that children belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) category were given free training. Besides, he said that they had also started an advance skiing course for 15 candidates at Solang Nallah ski slopes here.

He said a 10-day special course in skiing was also started on Saturday for as many as 80 NSS volunteers from West Bengal and Punjab at Solang Nallah here.

Thakur said students belonging to general category could get training after paying Rs 8400. As many as 12 instructors were imparting training in various skiing courses at Solang Nallah here.
