More than 10 slums were completely burnt after a major fire broke out in Gore village near Kapurthala on Tuesday afternoon.

No casualties or injuries have been reported in the fire which took around three hours for the fire brigade to douse.

The fire reportedly began from one of the slums after which the blaze spread so rapidly that out of total 40 slums, 10 were completely burnt while five suffered minor losses.
Miklesh Matho, a victim, said they had kept Rs 3 lakh in their dwelling which was also burnt, along with the slum infrastructure of around Rs 1.5 lakh.
Ranjit Singh, driver of a fire tender, said it took three hours to control the fire and another fire tender had to be called from Hamira.
