Soldier's murder: phone record under scrutiny

The cell-phone details of a lance naik found murdered in the army area on Monday are with the police.

The body of lance naik Krishnappa Gowda(32) of the Army Services Corps in Ferozepur, in full uniform, was lay a kilometre from his sentry post. The injuries suggested murder. The soldier was from Balike near Nada in the Belthangady juridisction of Karnataka.

Illicit relations might be the motive of murder, said police sources seeking anonymity. Gowda had three cell phones, and the call record each is under examination. "It's hard to say if someone from the defence is involved in conspiracy," the source said.

The army's internal investigation into the incident is on. The victim's viscera are in medical laboratory after autopsy. The police are close to cracking the case, Dalbir Singh, station house officer at Ferozepur Cantonment, has claimed.
