A man murdered his father at Vadrukhan village under the Longowal police station in the Sangrur district and later threw his body into a canal.

According to police, Buta Singh, along with his wife and two other accomplices, murdered his own father Jagar Singh on February 28, hitting him with a hammer and some sharp-edged weapons.

“During interrogation, Buta Singh confessed that he later threw his father's body in the Nadampul canal,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP), Sangrur, Harcharan Singh Bhullar.

The SSP said Buta Singh had got estranged with his father owing to the fact that Jagar Singh had given his other son more land than he had given to Buta Singh. “In frustration, Buta Singh murdered Jagar Singh and threw his dead body in a canal at Nadampul,” said the SSP. Police arrested all the accused and would present them in court on Monday.
