An all-caste, all-khap mahapanchayat will be organised at Bohar village in Rohtak district on January 18 to discuss the matter pertaining to the alleged molestation-cum-thrashing case onboard a moving bus on November 28.

A delegation comprising representatives of the 33-member committee formed by the residents of three villages to look into the matter met the 84-khap head Hardeep Ahlawat to take the proceedings forward.

It was decided to hold a mahapanchayat at Bohar village of the district on January 18, and the family members of the boys as well as the girls may also be called to attend the mahapanchayat.

Aarti and Pooja of Sonepat district had accused Kuldeep, Deepak and Mohit (residents of Asan village) of molesting them in a moving bus and police had booked the trio under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.

Notably, a joint panchayat of Kansala, Bakheta and Humayunpur villages was held at Kansala village in the district recently to make efforts to get the matter settled through compromise with social intervention.

Meanwhile, the families of the boys have agreed to meet khap representatives, while those of girls have outrightly refused to agree to any out-of-court settlement at panchayat level.
