The ill-equipped fire wing of the MC will soon be upgraded, Punjab local bodies department secretary Ashok Gupta said here on Wednesday.
On a visit to the city to discuss major projects being carried out here with MC officials, Gupta said that under a new plan, fire-fighting equipment in the city would be brought on a par with any other metro.
During his visit, Gupta met MC commissioner RK Verma, additional commissioner Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, additional commissioner Isha Kalia and joint commissioner Amarjit Singh Sekhon.
Gupta was informed about other projects in the city that the MC has either begun or would start shortly. The projects that were discussed during Gupta's visit are: the eight-laning of Ferozepur Road, remodeling of Pakhowal and Hambran roads, construction of an indoor stadium on Pakhowal Road, and multi-storey parking at Feroze Gandhi Market. The officials also discussed the MC outdoor advertisement policy.
Gupta said that he discussed these issues and took officials' advice on ways to improve communication between the state government and the city's civic body. “Any requirement by Ludhiana municipal corporation will be fulfilled whenever it wants,” said Gupta.
