Special programme organised to pay tribute to cartoonist RK Laxman

The Institute of Mass Communication And Media Technology of the Kurukshetra University organised a special programme to pay tribute to renowned cartoonist RK Laxman on Monday.

On the occasion, cartoonist Rajendra Verma Khubru called upon media students to learn techniques of cartoon making.

Khubru explained the delineation of cartoon making to students. He said, “One requires a full knowledge and information of the political scenario in the country, social system and other everyday happening, if one wanted to be a good and perfect cartoonist.”

Paying rich tribute to deceased Laxman, he maintained that it was very difficult to imitate and copy of Laxman. Laxman created a new world that gave expression to the feeling of millions of readers.

Director of the institute SS Boora said RK Laxman was a great appreciator of the world of cartoonist. He held that cartoons engaged the attention of everybody in a newspaper because it deals with challenges of everyday problems.

Khubru also adjudged three cartoons made by the students of the media institute and praised their efforts to make cartoons in such a short time. Rishika bagged the first spot, followed by Sangram and Mohan Sharma in cartoon-making competition.
