Yet another recklessly driven taxi claimed lives of four female factory workers and left seven others injured on the Ludhiana-Bathinda highway near Jalaldiwal village on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Paramjit Kaur, Geeta, Neelam Rani and Rita, all residents of Jalaldiwal village.
The victims were travelling in their factory’s taxi when the driver allegedly rammed the vehicle into a truck parked on the roadside.
Locals immediately rushed to the spot and sounded the police, even as three of the victims died on the spot. The injured were shifted to the civil hospital at Raikot.
Jagroop Singh, incharge of Jalaldiwal police station, said the taxi was being driven at high speed when it rammed into the truck, killing four of the passengers.
