Members of the SSA/RMSA teacher union held a protest rally against the state government on Sunday and condemned the Director General of School Education (DGSE) for his alleged irresponsible behaviour with them.
Addressing the protest rally, the district president of the union, Sonali Sharma, said the DGSE had called up a meeting with the union on June 30 to discuss their long-pending demands, but the DGSE failed to hear their grievances properly.
Sharma said the state government had issued a notification on September 13, 2012, to declare equal pay to the SSA/RMSA teachers as regular teachers get in Punjab.
She revealed that from April 2015, they were entitled to get basic pay along with 107 per cent DA, but the DGSE office had not released any yearly increment to the SSA teachers. Sharma accused that salaries of the RMSA teachers have also been decreased.
She added that the union members had also held a meeting with the education minister, but he also failed to take any notice. She demanded release of their dues and salaries of the RMSA teachers immediately.
