Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Harcharan Singh Bullar visited Ambemajra village and some other places here on Wednesday in connection with the drug awareness drive (Nasha Chhaddo, Kohr Vaddo) launched by new inspector general (IG) Paramraj Singh Umranangal on April 8. Bhullar addressed public meetings and told people about the harmful effects of drugs.
He appealed to the people to help the police in curbing the drug menace and getting the victims admitted to de-addiction centres. Bhullar said that fighting the menace was the moral duty of everyone, so people should help the police in whatever they can.
“We are committed to public welfare and we urge people to inform us if they suspect any illegal activity in the area,” said Guriqubal Singh, station house officer (SHO), Mandi Gobindgarh.
The drive was launched by Umranangal during his first meetings in Rurki and Panjoli Kalan villages after he joined as the IG of Patiala zone.
