After Hindustan Times reported about 'Buses with tinted glasses defy apex court directives in Nawanshahr', SSP Dhanpreet Kaur has written a letter to the GM, Punjab Roadways, requesting him to take immediate action against buses that arrive at the stand.

In another letter to the DTO, the SSP has asked the district transport officer to issue challans to buses, continuously plying on the roads in spite of SC orders.

In the letters, the SSP has mentioned that incidents of eve-teasing,molestation and other illegal activities can be stopped by taking off black films from widows of buses in the city.

The Supreme Court in its orders on April 27, 2012, prohibited the use of tint on glass windows of vehicles beyond the permissible limit prescribed by the Motor Vehicles Act in the country.

Speaking to HT, Traffic in-charge inspector Varinder Kumar said, "We did write to Punjab Roadways general manager to order the drivers of these buses to remove black films from these buses, but no action was taken." He claimed that the police are vigilant against the menace, and that the police had challaned 15 buses, including government-owned buses over the past month.
