Counter number 13, which is busiest counter where certificates are issued to people, has only one employee. People say there should be at least two counters for the issuance of certificates.
Suvidha centre in-charge Punit Garg said people have to face inconvenience due to staff shortage. The official said he had written to the district authorities to provide staff, but no avail. He said the staff here had to work till 6:30 pm every day to complete the work. Garg added that district magistrate KS Sangha promised to approach the higher authorities to recruit more staff.
Moreover, the fans at the suvidha centres are also non-functional.
Local Congress legislator Kuljit Singh Nagra, who visited the suvidha centre on Thursday, met people and also listened to their grievances. He said the party members from the district would visit every governmental office in order to check the working and public dealing.
Sub-divisional magistrate Pooja Syal Grewal also reached the suvidha centre and talked to the people. Grewal ordered the centre in-charge to deploy more staff on the busy counters. Grewal directed him to make arrangements for ceiling and exhaust fans at the centre. She also directed the authorities to have separate queues for women and senior citizens.
