Stamp vendors demand withdrawal of e-stamping

Punjab Stamp Vendor Association opposed the state government's decision of e-stamping at an association meeting held at the Mini Secretariat, Ludhiana, on Saturday.

Association president Ajit Singh Batra said that they would move the high court against the decision. "E-stamping will only create result in many stamp vendors losing their livelihood. As it is, inflation already pinching many pockets," he said.

He said while stamp vendors charge a 2% commission, the company hired by the government would take a 7.5% commission.
The association has said that it would intensify protests unless chief minister Prakash Singh Badal revokes the decision.
