Start-up ideas: 16 student teams vie for biz czars’ attention

The Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit, starting on October 28, will offer 16 student teams from the state a launch pad for their big business idea. Venture capitalists will be judging these teams as they present their ideas during the two-day event.

The three winners will not just get to see their ideas become a reality but also get to use office space provided free of cost at Software Technology Park of India (STPI) for six months to set up their venture.

“In a first of its kind ‘start-up ideas competition’ in Punjab, as many as 90 students divided into 16 teams took part in a 54-hour event starting from October 23-25 at the IT Park, Chandigarh. At the end of the event, we had 16 sizzling business ideas, all workable and pitched for the finals,” revealed Manjit Brar MD Milkfed and ACEO, Invest Punjab.

“The participants came up with ideas pertaining to diverse fields, including core engineering, healthcare, agriculture, finance and much more,” said Brar. Some ideas even pertained to glamour industry, added Brar. “The finals will be held during the investors’ summit on October 29. We will then pick three teams with top-rating ideas that would judged on factors such as business viability, practicality and execution, said Brar.
