State govt committed to protect fertile land: Dhankar

Haryana agriculture minister OP Dhankar has said that the state government was committed to protect the fertile lands of thestate and that it will take all steps to improve agriculture productivity in the Bangar region of the state.

Dhankar, who was addressing a farmers' gathering in Manoli village of thedistrict, advised farmers to adopt latest techniques to enhance production.

He also assured the farmers that both the Centre and state governments areready to extend all possible support to the farming community to makeagriculture more profitable.

About compensation to rain-hit farmers Dhankar said, "A compensation of `12,000 per acre will be given to farmers, who have suffered 100% damage, which is highest in the country".

He said that the state government has already started Haryana Freshscheme to attract farmers to adopt vegetables. He also appealed to the farmers to avoid use of cold drinks and packed water and welcome guests with lemon water and milk.
