Stray bull runs amok in Patiala, kills one, injures another

A stray bull killed a man by piercing his eyeball and puncturing his lungs and kidneys with his horns, here on Sunday. Another person, who also came under the bovine’s attack, has sustained injuries and is admitted at a hospital.
The deceased was identified as Sunny (22), a resident of Uttar Pardesh, who had come to Punjab to earn livelihood. The injured is Arjun Kumar, a resident of Bajwa Colony. The incident took place in posh SST Nagar, which is next to Old Factory Area.
Due to the attacks of cow vigilantes, the bovine traders are not taking bulls and cows, which have completed their age of lactation, forcing the villagers to set them free in cities. The number of stray bulls and cows has increased many-fold in entire Patiala and nearby towns.
The eyewitness told police that the bull turned berserk and started hitting bypassers. Sunny, who was working in a factory at Baba Deep Singh Nagar, was travelling on cycle and came under the attack. In the first hit, the face of the victim was damaged, while in the second attack, Sunny’s eye got punctured. As he fell on the ground, the bull start hitting with his horns in his stomach and he died on the spot. The bystanders tried to stop the bull, but angry bull chased them.
After that the bull chased Arjun Kumar, who was also crossing. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The bypassers informed the police and the municipal corporation.
“Sunny had come here to earn livelihood, but was killed. We are in shock and informed his family members,’’ said Yogesh, victim’s friend.
