On the fourth day of the strike by doctors and paramedical staff on Friday, members of the Punjab and UT Employees Action Committee Punjab joined them for supporting their ongoing protest.

The agitators burnt an effigy of the government and then blocked the main Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib road in protest.

People had been facing a lot of inconvenience for getting treatment from the civil hospital.

The government has failed to pay their salaries since December.

While addressing the president of the action committee Dr Karamjit Singh along with other union members threatened that the members of the union would organise a protest march in Bathinda and Sangrur constituencies on April 18 and 24, respectively, if the government did not meet their demands. They also said that they had been running from pillar to post for getting their demands met.

They said that they would intensify their protest if their long-pending demands were not met.
