Even as Dera Sacha Sauda followers removed rail track blockades in the region, claiming an assurance from the state government to start screening of MSG 2 within two days in the state, most of trains were still running behind schedule on Monday.
Both the up and down New Delhi-Amritsar-New Delhi Shan-e-Punjab Express trains were running late by more than six hours. The Amritsar Shatabdi Express reached the Ludhiana railway station five-and-a-half hours late at 5pm. Amritsar Akal Takht Express was delayed by more three hours, Haridwar-Amritsar Jan Shatabdi Express was delayed by an hour, Amritsar-Dadar Express was running late by five hours.
Amarjeet Singh, a passenger, said, "Common man is suffering due to these protests since the past two days. All the trains from Ferozepur, Amritsar and New Delhi are running behind the schedule and passengers are suffering. There is a need to come up with strict rules against people who unnecessarily block railway tracks and cause inconvenience to the public."
