Several employees of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) sat on a dharna on Wednesday, the second day of their strike, at the bus stand here and blocked the entry of buses to the bus stand to protest against the alleged arbitrary ways of private transporters and seeking strict action against the accused in the June 1 incident.

The protesters did not allow the buses to enter the bus stand throughout the day. The protesting employees of the PRTC are demanding action against the people involved in the incident in which some employees were injured in a clash between the workers of private transporters and PRTC employees. “We want the suspension of the bus, owned by a senior Akali leader, which is running illegally from Jaitu to Chandigarh as its permit is valid only from Barnala to Chandigarh. Besides, the Faridkot police had booked the accused in the alleged attack on PRTC employees on June 1 under minor bailable offences, sparing them from the charge of damaging government buses,” said Jaspal Singh, state president of the PRTC employees union.
