Sucha, Mann groups brawl at AAP’s Talwandi Sabo meeting

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) meeting convened at a park at Talwandi Sabo for the preparation of the Baisakhi Mela conference on Thursday witnessed a scuffle.
The scuffle allegedly took place between the supporters of party state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur and party’s Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann.
There was high drama at the meeting after a volunteer sought the details of the funds received by party candidate Baljinder Kaur during the Talwandi Sabo byelection.
It did not go down well with Kaur’s father Darshan Singh and allegedly led to a scuffle and manhandling between the two groups.
Two office-bearers later accepted the reports of scuffle. Gurdeep Brar, who claimed to be the youth incharge of AAP in the district under the expansion programme of the party, said, “Some volunteers asked for details of the funds Kaur received during the byelection. I heard that a scuffle and manhandling took place.” AAP district convener Gurjit Sidhu said, “I left the meeting early. The scuffle must have taken place after I left.”
Also, the two sides failed to decide the venue of the rally. Kaur and her supporters said they had selected the venue near the historical gurdwara and had already applied for permission from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
Sidhu claimed that they had been looking for a venue on Maur Road and nothing had been finalised.
When Kaur was asked about the manhandling and scuffle, she said some elements wanted to spoil the meeting.
Gurjit Sidhu and Gurdeep Brar are close to Bhagwant Mann, who had opposed ticket to Kaur during the byelection and got it for his friend and Punjabi singer Balkar Sidhu. Later, Balkar’s ticket was cancelled and was given to Kaur, who is close to Chhotepur.
