Sufi evening concludes celebrations to remember ML Bhaskar

A musical night was organised by Mohan Lal Bhaskar foundation as part of the 9th Mohan Lal Bhaskar Art and Theatre Festival, on Sunday, at the Manav Mandir School on Malwal Road, here. One of the state's greatest sufi singers Barkat Siddhu performed at the event, along with another renowned singer Sidhu.

Other young singers like Kamal Dravid, winner of Voice of Punjab, Anantpal Billa and Rajesh Sobti also performed at the event.

The evening started with a lighting the lamp and showering of petals at the picture of Mohan Lal Bhaskar, followed by a melodious hymn sung by Rajesh Sobti.

During the day, school and college students displayed their talents with dramatics, dances, songs and other activities.

The evening was graced by the town's who's-who, including renowned doctors, professors, lawyers, district administration officers and intellectuals.

Barkat Siddhu was accompanied by Taruni Sood, who matched her every step with Siddhu and added grace to the performance.

Both of them made the audience experience the master compositions of Bulle Shah and Shah Hussain.

"Padh padh ilam kitaaban, tu naam rakha leya kazi, Fadh talwaar dilawar baniyo, tu naam rakha leya gazi, Makke jaake hajj guzaarein, tu naam rakha leya kaazi, Bulle Shah tu kuchh ni khatteya, je yaar nahin kitta raazi."

The singers also sang 'Meri buggal de vich chor' and Shah Hussain's 'Shah Hussain tun kis baag di mooli'.

The melodious singing of Kamal Draved and Anantpal Billa on the same platform made the evening even more colourful.

The stage secretary of the evening Dr SN Rudra said that the platform not only made the audience experience the singing of renowned singers like Siddhu, but has also inspired young singers and brought some culture to the town.

At the end of the evening, the performers were honoured by Prabha Bhaskar, patron-in-chief MLB Foundation, Jhalkeshwar Bhaskar, Gaurav Bhaskar, Pratibha Bhaskar and Dolly Bhaskar.
