Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday congratulated Olympian Swarn Singh Virk for winning the bronze medal in the rowing event at the Incheon Asian Games.

In a felicitation message to Swarn Singh, Sukhbir, who also holds the sports portfolio, appreciated the level of commitment and determination of the Indian rowing contingent, especially Swarn, who created history by clinching a bronze in the men's singles sculls event. He also lauded the Indian rowing team for winning bronze in the team event.

The team comprised three rowers from Punjab-Maninder Singh, Davinder Singh and Ranjit Singh. Of the total 15 medals won by India so far, 5 have been clinched by players from Punjab, a spokesperson said.
