Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday ducked queries on his statement that senior advocate and Aam Aadmi Party's Ludhiana candidate, HS Phoolka, took hefty amounts for fighting cases of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims.

Asked about Phoolka's challenge, Badal said, "I do not want to comment on that. My agenda is development."

Badal, meanwhile, upped the attack on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, asking him to 'feel sad' for the innocents killed in the 1984 riots and not only air concern over the release of the assassins of his father, late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The deputy CM, in Amritsar to address a function organised by chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Inderbir Bolaria, said, "Rahul is deeply worried over the decision of Supreme Court to commute the death sentences of the killers of his father to life terms, but he has no regret and sorrow for the innocent Sikhs killed during riots, even after confessing that some Congress leaders were involved."

Brushing aside the AAP challenge in Punjab, Sukhbir said, "It has no impact. Earlier there was PPP (People's Party of Punjab) and now there is AAP. Everybody has a right to come and contest, but they will have no impact in Punjab."

Earlier, addressing an impressive gathering, Sukhbir, who laid foundation of projects worth Rs 285 crore here, urged people to come forward for the formation of NDA government under the leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
