Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will award exporters of northern states for their excellent performance during the last two financial years.
The awards will be given at a ceremony to be organised by Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) on September 28.
"As many as 84 exporters will be awarded for the year 2009-10 and 79 for 2001-11," said EEPC deputy director Opinder Singh.
From Punjab, 33 exporters have been selected for 2009-10 and 22 for 2010-11. For Delhi, 23 and 30 exporters will get the awards for 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively.
Regional chairperson of EEPC, Kamna Raj Aggarwalla, will preside over the awards function with Sukhbir as the chief guest and revenue and rehabilitation minister Bikram Singh Majithia as the guest of honour.
On the awards list are six exporters of hand tools from Jalandhar, for their excellent performance in the face of the recession in European countries.
It is learnt that before the awards ceremony, industrialists of the city would meet Sukhbir and submit their grievances as well as suggestion for incorporation in the industrial policy.
Recently, a delegation of the city's industrialists under the banner of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) (Jalandhar chapter) met Majithia. He asked them to prepare a charter of demands, which could be included in the new industrial policy when it is finalised.
