The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to field former Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira from the Bholath and chairman of its Punjab Dialogue team Kanwar Sandhu from Kharar.
The political affairs committee of the party, led by its national convener Arvind Kejriwal, is likely to meet in New Delhi on Wednesday to finalise the third list of over 35 candidates.
Name of former Congress leader and MLA Jagtar Singh Rajla is also said to figure on the list as the AAP candidate from Samana. Former Akali leader and MLA Mangat Rai Bansal is being considered as a candidate from the Mansa assembly segment.
Meanwhile, the party on Tuesday said chief minister Parkash Singh Badal should come clean on “chaos” created in the border villages by asking the people to vacate their houses.
Addressing a press conference, AAP vice-president Col CD Kamboj (retd), head of the NRI wing Jagtar Sanghera and AAP candidate from Balachaur Brigadier Raj Kumar (retd) and state convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi sought Badal’s clarification after a tweet of director general (DG) of the Border Security Force that evacuation was never ordered in border villages.
