He was found to be carrying four copies of a 10-page note where he named 20 people.

The note also named Kharar DSP RPS Marad.

Karam was rushed to the PGI and died during treatment.

Kharar (city) police registered the case on a complaint from Arvinder Singh, Karam’s son.

“I was in Ropar when my father called to say he was ending his life due to Bajwa’s harassment. I rushed to Kharar, but by then he had been taken to the PGI. We worked as contractors with Bajwa who owes us money for a grader machine that we had rented out to him at `1.7 lakh per month. Since 2013, Bajwa has not paid us the rent and the machine has not been returned,” Arvinder has told the police.

“The documents recovered cannot be treated as a suicide note. The 10-page note names many people. Karam’s allegation that SHO Kharar (city) Vijay Kumar and I failed to take action on his complaint is false.

We had investigated his complaint and found that Karam owed money to Bajwa,” said the DSP

“We have registered a case on the statement of Arvinder Singh who has named Bajwa,” said SHO Kharar (city) Vijay Kumar.
