A woman gave birth to five children, all girls, at the Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research here on Tuesday morning. All the children are in a normal and stable condition.
Kuldip Kaur, 32, of Gidhariani village of Sangrur district, already had two daughters and now she has seven daughters.
The babies were delivered prematurely after 28 weeks (around 6.5 months) of pregnancy and they were kept into an incubator after birth. Each infant weighs less than one kilogram.
Kuldip Kaur was admitted to the hospital on April 30. All the babies were delivered within 10 minutes.
Gynecologist Dr Kiran Kaur said, "All the children, though born prematurely, yet are normal and fine. The woman's condition is stable and infants are kept in an incubator. Infants are out of danger."
The parents knew about the birth of four children in advance, but they did not know about the fifth child till delivery.
The eldest daughter is of 7 years of age while the younger one is 3-year-old. The elder daughter was born normally while the woman had to undergo a cesarean operation at thee time of the younger daughter's birth.
