Tension prevailed in Kidwai Nagar, Isa Nagar and surrounding areas as the supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Gurdeep Singh Neetu, and Active Anti Corruption Group president Ramesh Bangar, entered into a clash on Saturday.

Both the groups had burnt effigies of rival group leaders, following which they entered into a scuffle and started pelting stones on each other. A heavy force has been deployed in the area to control the situation.

Meanwhile, some women held a protest outside the police commissioner's office on Saturday and demanded the arrest of Bangar.

The women have submitted a complaint to additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Harmohan Singh, who marked an inquiry to assistant commissioner of police.

The women alleged that Bangar used to blackmail people in the name of his self-styled group. They also alleged that Bangar had been exploiting girls on the pretext of helping them in getting jobs.

Bimla, Gurmel Kaur, Asha Rani, Leela, Shimla Devi, Mona, Nisha, Sonia, Paramjit Kaur, Veena, and other women that were protesting for the arrest of Bangar, said they have filed several complaints against the accused, but the police had not taken any action against him.

The women warned the police that if no action was taken against the accused within three days, they would intensify the agitation.

It is pertinent to mention here that war between Neetu and Bangar had come to the fore, when both had levelled allegations against each other a few days back.
