Sikh activist Surat Singh Khalsa was on Sunday shifted to Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) of Advance Cardiac Centre at the .Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
The Ludhiana district had shifted Khalsa to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Saturday despite strong resistance from his relatives and followers.
Khalsa has been on a fast unto death since January 16 demanding the release of Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentence.
The police had tried to give medical aid to Khalsa on Thursday but he had refused. The pictures of Khalsa becoming weak had gone viral on social networking sites. Following this, the police had beefed up security in the village.
His son Ravinderjit Singh Gogi said the police had taken his father to hospital without their consent.
