Fasting Sikh activist Surat Singh Khalsa has cursed civil surgeon Dr Renu Chhatwal over her updates to the media about his health.

In a letter, Khalsa has told her to stop making his daily health report public, since her statements in a vernacular newspaper (that his condition was stable from Day One) had hurt him. His son, Ravinderjit Singh, has written the letter for him.

Khalsa asked her if his condition was stable, why had the police and district administration moved him forcibly to the civil hospital first and then Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). "Does this not prove that my condition is deteriorating?" he has written.

Khalsa is allowed no visitor at the hospital. "It indicates an attempt to hide something about my health. If I am well, why don't the doctors send me home and why doesn't she (the civil surgeon) give me a discharge certificate?" reads his letter.

He tells her that her statements had affected his agitation and misled his supporters.
