Sutlej Club polls: GS Laddi elected vice-prez

Gurinderjit Singh Laddi was again elected as vicepresident of the Sutlej Club at its general body elections held on Sunday. Roads leading to the club from Mall Road remained jampacked with vehicles after polling began at 9am and continued till 5 in the evening.

The elections were held under the close watch of deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal, who also happens to be the club’s president. The posts of general secretary, cultural secretary, sports secretary and one of the executive members, which were not contested, were retained by Rohit Dutta, Ruchi Bawa, Jasdeep Singh Nalwa and Monika Aggarwal (reserved for women), respectively.

Gurinderjit Singh Ladi and Sanjiv Dhanda contested for seven posts, including that of vice-president, while Jatinder Marwah and Parichay Sood ran for the joint secretary’s post.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Aggarwal and Tribhuvan Singh Thapar contested for the post of finance secretary, Gurinder Singh Kairon and Sanjiv Sood for mess secretary, and Rakesh Kapoor, Vivek Sharma and Navtej Singh contested for bar secretary.

Lastly, Monika Mittal, Rajesh Kakkar and Madanlal Singhania fought for the posts of two executive members at the club. Rakesh Kapoor was elected bar secretary, Jatinder Marwah joint secretary, Tribhuvan Singh Thapar finance secretary and Gurinder Kairon as mess secretary.
