Swachh Bharat Week launched in city

The Swachh Bharat Week was launched in all the four zones of Municipal Corporation on Thursday.MC commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal launched this project on Sekhewal road in ward number 23, while deputy mayor Ripu Daman Sharma launched Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious project- "Swachh Bharat Week", a programme aimed to promote cleanliness and sanitation in urban areas, in Chander Nagar near Arya College Ludhiana.

The Swachh Bharat Week was launched in all the four zones of Municipal Corporation on Thursday.MC commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal launched this project on Sekhewal road in ward number 23, while deputy mayor Ripu Daman Sharma launched Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious project- "Swachh Bharat Week", a programme aimed to promote cleanliness and sanitation in urban areas, in Chander Nagar near Arya College Ludhiana.


Chief of health and sanitation wing, Amarjeet Singh and joint commissioner PS Ghuman also participated in the drive that was held at Chandar Nagar.

Health officer of MC, Dr Vipul Malhotra informed that the drives were conducted in all the four zones of MC in Vishwakarma Chowk and the slum area of Bihari Colony.

Sekhon informed that they would be holding awareness rally from Greenland School on Friday.
"Placards are being prepared for the awareness rally and fogging is also being conducted in various areas to protect people from mosquitoes," he added.

He said overgrowth grass and solid waste would also be removed during the cleanliness drive. Various city based NGOs are also participating in this drive."

The Swachh Bharat Week would end on October 2, the launching date of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".
"The programme is expected to continue till the culmination of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019. The programme is aimed at creating a clean India by 2019 with people's participation," said deputy mayor Ripu Daman Sharma.

Besides, sweepers were seen cleaning the areas while the residents were also encouraged to participate in the drive.


The Swachh Bharat Week would end on October 2, the launching date of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".
