Banjar MLA Karan Singh urged farmers of the district to take benefits under central and state government schemes.
He was at Banjar to preside over a district-level farmer fair, where more than 500 farmers gathered to celebrate the event.
“State and central governments are running several welfare schemes for the development of farmers in the state, but still many farmers are ignorant about these facilities and it is a matter of grave concern,” said Singh. He urged the agriculture department authorities to spread more and more awareness at grassroots level to help farmers to avail the facility.
The fair was organised by Agriculture Technology Management Agency at Banjar to honour the progressive farmers of the district, who were contributing for the growth of state.
On the occasion, 28 progressive farmers of district were awarded `10,000, each, while eight farmer groups received `20,000 each.
Agriculture technology management agency director BL Sharma and his team of associates apprised the farmers of the district about various welfare schemes run by the state and central governments.
