The residents of Amloh town in district have been living in fear as main electricity supply wires passing through various localities have been hanging low or getting entangled in tree branches, which also leads to interruption in power supply from time to time.

Farmers' representatives Kulwant Singh, Harjit Singh Jeeta and labour union member Gurjant Singh said that whenever there is rainfall accompanied with strong wind in the town, there has been disruption in power supply.

They alleged that the residents in the town were not getting the benefit of uninterrupted power supply in view of the tangled wires. They alleged that even though the electricity department immediately makes efforts to restore power supply after receiving complaints, the officials make temporary arrangements for removing the technical snag.

They further claimed that even the government buildings and hospitals have not been spared as the tangled wires could be seen on the trees. They alleged that when the power supply is restored there is also fluctuation in power supply causing damage to the household appliances. They demanded that the electricity department should fix the power wires at a proper height to avoid any mishap.

When contacted Powercom SDO Nagender Sharma said the department was working round the clock for providing uninterrupted power supply to residents in the town. He said that arrangements were also being made to remove the tangled wires from trees to ensure proper electricity supply.
