The Punjab School Education Board on Wednesday announced that it would inform teachers, who would be on duty during Class 10 and 12 board examinations, ten days before the start of the exams.
The examinations are scheduled to be held in March 2015.
When contacted, chairman of the board Tajinder Kaur Dhaliwal, who was at the techno-cultural festival of Bhutta College of Engineering and Technology here, said: “To streamline the examination process, we will inform the teachers ten days before of the examination duty so that if any teacher has any problems, we can depute another teacher. If we inform the teachers in advance, they can plan their work accordingly. Moreover, this time, we will depute fewer number of flying squad teams at the exam centres as the superintendent and controller would be present at the centres. Only school principals will be part of the flying squads.”
She said the department was now undertaking a string of activities to streamline the examination process this year.
The chairman stated: “We are developing a portal in which all the information of teachers such as their home addresses, their native district, will be provided to us by the DEO. We will then verify the information and then depute them as controller, superintendent or invigilators during these exams.”
She further said teachers involved in cheating cases in the last three years would not be deputed on exam duty this year.Dhaliwal also said: “As we had received complaints from two districts regarding the faulty evaluation process in political science, we have decided to not depute teachers who had committed errors during evaluation.”
Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal added: “All teachers will be deputed at an examination centre which is within 10 km from their house so that they can reach the examination centres on time.”
