Candidates of Team Insaaf will contest on all 14 assembly seats in Ludhiana in the Vidhan Sabha elections to be held in 2017. Independent members of legislative assembly (MLA) Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains announced this during a press conference held in Ludhiana on Wednesday.
Simarjit Bains said, “We will not go for an alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Congress or Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but will think of joining hands with a like-minded party/organization.”
The brothers also announced office-bearers for the district and state unit, wherein MLA Simarjit Singh Bains was declared the president of Team Insaaf and Balwinder Singh Bains as chairman of disciplinary action committee.
The president also went on to declare the heads of wings, including women wing, industry wing, farmer wing and district president.
For Punjab state offices, Baldev Singh was selected as district president, Sashi Malhotra was declared as president of women wing, Jasvinder Singh Thukral will be the president of industry wing, Rishipal Singh as chairman of trade cell, Gurneetpal Singh president of trade cell, Punjab, and Vijay Kumar will be the president of trade cell, Ludhiana. In addition, the team also got heads for all 75 wards of the municipal corporation (MC) in city.
MLA Balwinder Singh Bains claimed that Badal family was afraid of Team Insaaf, hence it did not miss a chance to level false allegations and register fake cases against them. Bains also claimed that CBI had given a clean chit to him in tehsildar Benipal case, which was again a part of a conspiracy against Simarjit Singh Bains.
Further elaborating upon forming an alliance with another political party in assembly elections, the duo said, they would never support Shiromani Akali Dal as this would be the biggest mistake. “We have already apologised to our supporters for the same. Also, there is no question of joining hands with Congress party as their leaders are involved in corrupt practices,” they added.
Confident to make a mark in the assembly elections, Simarjit Singh Bains said that they would announce the office-bearers for seven more districts of Punjab within 15 days, so that candidates could make their preparations for upcoming elections. “The final list of the office-bearers for the remaining districts will be announced within three months,” Bains added.
