A Punjab police constable lost his life on Wednesday as the lift he was using at the district courts complex in Amritsar got stuck due to some technical problem.
Sandip Singh (33) lost his life when the lift got jammed between the third and fourth floors of the building and he died during the rescue operation, police said.
Punjab Police DCP Satpal Joshi said when the lift operator heard the warning siren, he broke open the lift door but found Singh unconscious.
Singh fell down when the operator tried to pull him out after breaking the lift door, he said.
Joshi said the lift operator should not have gone alone for the rescue operation since he was physically challenged.
