Teen arrested with two stolen motorcycles

The anti-narcotics and anti-illicit liquor smuggling wing of police commissionerate, Ludhiana, arrested a teen on Thursday and recovered two stolen motorcycles from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Lovedeep Singh alias Deepu, 19, a resident of Bhola Colony, Tajpur Road. The accused earlier used to work as assistant to a carpenter, but he left the job three months ago.

Sub-inspector Harbans Singh, incharge, anti-narcotics and anti-illicit liquor smuggling wing, said, “The police arrested the accused from a checkpoint held at Salem Tabri area following a tip-off on Thursday. The accused was crossing through the area on a motorcycle. The police stopped him and questioned. The accused failed to produce documents of the vehicle.”

“When the police posed harsh against the accused, he confessed that he had stolen the motorcycle he was riding a few days ago. Following the information provided by the accused, the police recovered another motorcycle from his possession. A case under sections 379 (theft) 411(dishonestly receiving or retaining any stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against him at Salem Tabri police station,” Singh said.

The SI said the accused had stolen both the motorcycles from Salem Tabri area. The police suspected that the accused was involved in snatchings too. The police have been questioning him about his accomplices.
